Russian embassy expresses gratitude for humanitarian aid

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan received a letter of gratitude from the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Uzbekistan for allocated humanitarian aid to civilians of South Ossetia, Jahon news agency said on 19 August. The letter reads: "The Russian side welcomed with gratitude the instruction by President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov given to the country's Government on allocation of US$250,000 for rendering a humanitarian aid to civilian population that has suffered as a result of military conflict in South Ossetia." At the end of last week, the President of Uzbekistan (Visa, Visa Support, Visa Form) Islam Karimov instructed the Government to allocate US$250,000 for rendering a humanitarian aid to civilian population who has suffered as a result of military conflict in South Ossetia. Ministry of Emergency has been entrusted to deliver humanitarian aid to South Ossetia. The aid includes construction materials, including cement, foodstuff, medicaments, blankets and other goods.
