Power supplies to Tajikistan to be resumed "in nearest future" - Uzbek embassy

Uzbek electricity supplies to Tajikistan will be resumed in the nearest future. The Uzbek embassy in Dushanbe has told the Asia-Plus news agency that the suspension of electricity exports to Tajikistan was due to technical hitches at Uzbekistan's thermoelectric power stations which are the main electricity producers in the country. "Currently, Uzbek maintenance crews are intensively working to eliminate the hitches and as soon as the problems are solved, the electricity supplies [to Tajikistan] will be resumed," the embassy said. Uzbekistan suspended electricity supplies to Tajikistan on 25 February.
