Indonesia, Uzbekistan to hold consultationsIndonesia and Uzbekistan have agreed to hold their Fourth Bilateral Consultation Commission meeting in Medan, capital of North Sumatra province, in March, the Indonesian Embassy in Tashkent said in a press statement made available to ANTARA News on Wednesday. Representatives of the two countries` foreign ministries and technical agencies would attend the consultation meeting to discuss cooperation in the economic, trade and socio-cultural fields. The meeting was also expected to touch on a planned visit of Uzbek President Islam Karimov to Indonesia in the middle of this year. The two governments were at the meeting expected to sign an agreement on cooperation in the fields of trade, investment and energy, it said. Parallel with the meeting, a business forum attended by businessmen from the two countries would be held. Indonesian Ambassador Sjahril Sabaruddin, in his talks with the chairman of Uzbekistan`s Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Alisher Saehof, said the business forum in Medan could be used by Uzbekistan`s businessmen to meet Indonesian counterparts. Therefore, the ambassador called on Uzbek businessmen to take part in the forum so that they could establish contacts with Indonesian partners engaged in various business branches. Trade between Indonesia and Uzbekistan is still low in volume or value. According to data collected by the embassy, Indonesia-Uzbekistan trade in the January-October period in 2007 reached a value of US$23.8 million. Äàòà: 2008-07-07 03:27:34. |
